I'll Concede Defeat If I lose: Ruto Says

Deputy President William Ruto says he will willing accept defeat should he lose the August 9 polls.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party candidate who is making his first stab at the presidency at the general election is facing stiff competition from Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

"I will accept the outcome of this election I know that people of Kenya will make the right choice," said DP William Ruto during Tuesday evening Presidential debate held at Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUE).

Ruto, however, said he will only dispute the presidential election results if he doubts the outcome.

"If I my competitor has won and there is any issue I will go to court and accept the ruling of the court."

Ruto has on numerous occasions taunted Raila and challenged him to openly declare that he will accept election results should he lose the August duel.

Raila has thrice disputed presidential election results during the 2007, 2013 and 2017 editions claiming he beat his competitors.

Ruto  further took a jab at his rival competitor Raila Odinga after failing to show up at presidential debate. He said Odinga skipped because he has no plans for Kenyans.

DP Ruto stated that Raila has no agenda for Kenyans and he was afraid of answering difficult questions on what his agenda was for Kenyans.

"My competitor is not here because he has no plan, he is not able to articulate his agenda to Kenyans. All the reasons he has given for not showing up are just but scapegoat. He is not here because he is just but a project,” Ruto said.
