Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has come to the defence of former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, claiming that the scuffle witnessed on Wednesday, June 15 during the Kenya Kwanza rally in Kiambu was a plot by the United Democratic Alliance party to embarrass them.

The Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful took to his social media accounts after the event, and expressed his disappointment in the showdown that was witnessed between UDA gubernatorial aspirant Kimani Wamatangi and Kabogo , stating that it was ugly and regrettable.

“What happened in the Hustler Express Caravan in Kiambu County yesterday was regrettable. The ugly altercation between Kabogo and Wamatangi is regrettable. I will not apportion blame to any of the two gentlemen but I can relate to Kabogo's pain,” said Kuria.

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader stated that the standoff was the culmination of a three-day meeting held by MPs and MCA candidates in the Deputy President William Ruto led-party to plot against him and the former governor, being outsiders seeking the same elective positions.

“For three days, the UDA leadership has been meeting UDA MP and MCA candidates to plot how to embarrass Kabogo and me during the tour,” he said.

Kuria revealed that UDA-allied MP and MCAs who associated with the duo were warned of dire consequences.

He called out the leaders within the party instigating sabotage to refrain from the same as it portrayed the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in a negative light contrary to its policy of inclusion.

"This chicanery is not healthy for our fledgling alliance. It is imperative that we live not only the letter but also the spirit of the Kenya Kwanza alliance, otherwise it will be tantamount to politics of conmanship and deceit," he notedp

Kuria maintained that he would be raising the concerns to the alliance principals as instructed in the alliance instruments to bring an end to the in-fighting witnessed in the formation.
