UDA presidential candidate, Deputy President William Ruto, has come to the defence of Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja, asking agencies involved in the stalling of his bid owing to the validity of his academic certificates to back off.

He was speaking in a Kenya Kwanza Rally in Nyakoria in Nyamira County on Thursday, June 16 where he asked that the same be subjected to the Azimio One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga who he alleges his academic credentials may not be up to par with the requirements of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC).

“Leave our Gubernatorial Candidate Johnson Sakaja alone. He is a young man and he is learned , he went to school and graduated. It is your candidate (Raila) whose education is questionable,” Ruto said.

Ruto further asked Odinga to come out with proof of where he studied, his academic qualifications and even show records of the faculty members who taught him, if indeed was a university graduate.

"Before you tell us anything, your presidential candidate Raila should show us where he schooled, his classmates and who his teachers were. Stop the conmanship," the DP added.

Odinga has in the past been under public scrutiny after claims that he is not a degree holder, but holds a diploma in welding specialization from a technical college from East Germany, and an Engineering Doctorate from a university in Russia.

Ruto demanded that Odinga's papers be made public to quell all speculations so that he would have the chance to battle it out fair and square with him in the presidential elections come August 9.

The DP was accompanied by Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang’ula, Ezekiel Machogu, Sylvanus Osoro, Joash Maangi, Zaheer Jhanda, Cliff Ombeta, Shadrack Mose, Walter Nyambati, Mathias Robi, among other leaders in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance

Wetangula echoed Ruto's sentiments, claiming that in all that time he has known Odinga he had never seen his degree or anyone who studied with him.
