The Former Prime Minister and the Azimio - OKA Coalition Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to assure Kenyans of credible elections.

The Coalition on Sunday wrote to the commission chair Wafula Chebukati asking the electoral body to publicize the state of its preparedness to conduct the August polls.

The former premier requested the Chebukati led commission to ensure that the voter register that is currently under audit is secured by safeguarding and protecting it.

The opposition chief said that the Azimio - OKA Coalition would like to see a free and fair election process, an exercise that should be done in a free manner. He said his wish is to see Kenyans freely expressing their will to speak clearly on the 9th of august.

Raila demanded that IEBC should ensure the Electronic identification of voters and transmission of results, the integrity of voters register, the audit of the same, proposal to amend the elections regulations and recruitment of returning officers.

Raila also wants the electoral body to address the matters concerning the printing of ballot papers, the contract between the commission and Smart- matic that has seen the commission outsource key electoral processes, including the results transmission requirement document, matters to do with elections technology, and stakeholder engagement.

However, IEBC through the chairman Wafula Chebukati had assured the Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga and the general public that there was no need to panic, as all the necessary plans to ensure a credible, free and fair election, were in place
