After maintaining that vetting by the Azimio One Kenya Coalition for Raila Odinga's running mate was demeaning, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has changed tune and welcomed endorsements by constituent parties in the formation.

Musyoka was speaking in Taita Taveta County stating that he was aware that his party through party's Secretary-General Shakila Abdalla had submitted his name for consideration by the advisory panel on Thursday, May 5.

He also thanked his OKA co-principal Gideon Moi for his endorsement through the Kanu party.

"It is true that my Secretary-General submitted my nomination application to the panel yesterday. I thank Gideon Moi for endorsing my candidature," Musyoka stated.

Musyoka had previously declared that he would not be facing the seven-member panel led by Noah Wekesa, which is set to interview candidates eyeing the running mate slot, stating that it was disrespectful to him.

KANU Political Affairs Secretary Fred Okango in the early hours of Thursday, May 5  wrote to the Azimio pane indicating that the party leader Gideon Moi had submitted Musyoka’s name to be considered for the same position.

Later on, the party Sec-Gen Nick Salat also wrote to the panel submitting Gideon Mo's name,  which sparked confusion within the party, but Okango maintained that the party had not recanted the endorsement of Musyoka.

The Movement for Democracy and Growth led by David Ochieng also endorsed Musyoka to be Odinga’s running mate, pointing out that he came with extensive experience, invaluable credentials, and requisite temperament.

Other leaders who have been fronted as possible Raila's running mate include Muranga Woman Representative Sabina Chege, former Gatanga Member of Parliament, Peter Kenneth, Narc Kenya party leader, Martha Karua, and outgoing Mombasa Governor, Hassan Ali Joho.
