Kenya Airways Advertises Vacant Positions Of Striking Pilots

National carrier Kenya Airways has advertised the positions of striking pilots as the strike enters the third day.

The pilot’s duties will include;assisting the Commander with administrative duties in relation to the flight ,participate in the planning and execution of company flights guided by the legal and company policies and procedures.

The pilots will also confirm the safe navigation of the aircraft,maintaining a continuous and independent check of the geographical position and ensure its safe terrain clearance.

The Kenya Airways opened up captains and first officers positions as pilots remain adamant on calling off their strike.

 

“I can confirm that we are looking for suitable applicants to fill the positions of Captains and First Officers at Kenya Airways,” said Tom Shivo Chief People Officer.

Kenya Airways shared an advert on its LinkedIn page on Monday morning.

The move has left more than 10,000 passengers and trips canceled at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

KQ has now asked interested applicants to submit their applications before November 18,2022.

 

The applicant should have minimum requirements of at least 500 hours on a commercial aircraft and a bachelor's degree. Ideal applicants should also have a commercial pilot license, instrument rating,multi-engine rating, performance rating gas turbine training, ICAO English proficiency of at least Level 4, a medical certificate, and a type rating is an added advantage.

The airlines' management has also threatened to take disciplinary action against striking pilots terming the strike as illegal and absconding of duty.

“The action by pilots has occasioned immeasurable inconvenience to guests,a huge financial cost to the company and by extension the larger national economy,therefore this is being treated as defiance of instruction issued by the CEO,”Chief People Officer Tom Shivo said.

 

The pilots downed their tools on Saturday after failing to reach a conclusive agreement with the KQ management.
