The quest for the hotly contested Kiambu gubernatorial seat is proving intense, with leaders eyeing the position going head to head in their bid to sway to votes their way with less than sixty days to the August 9 polls.

The most recent battle for the microphone was courtesy of UDA's gubernatorial aspirant Kimani Wamatangi and his Kenya Kwanza counterpart from the Tujibebe Party William Kabogo who is also eyeing the seat , which played out at a rally led by Presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua in the various constituencies in the county.

The standoff ensued after an furious Wamatangi denied Kabogo the microphone to address the crowd after he already had his chance to address the crowd, but was insistent on taking jibes at the senator with demeaning statements about his candidature.

Wamatangi asked Kabogo to hold his own rally instead of interrupting him while he shared his agenda with the people as a UDA candidate, warning him that he won't be intimidated which came much to the cheers of his supporters.

"I'm rallying you to vote me as governor on UDA and I will deliver on the promises that I make.

"I can also lead Kiambu people and I won't be intimidated at all," Wamatangi declared.

Kabogo however did not back down and immediately fired back at the senator mocking him for being afraid to lose in the polls.

"Kama wewe ni Mwanaume kuja hapa(If you are a real gentleman cross to this side)"Kabogo dared, which escalated to a jeering match between their supporters.

The feud played out in front of Gachagua who desperately tried to quell the duel, as he was the leader of the Kenyan Kwanza team in a caravan of leaders drawn from the region who would attend a series of rallies dubbed the 'Mt Kenya Express' traversing through constituencies in Kiambu County.

The Wednesday rally made it to Lari and Lemur constituencies and Gachagua was flanked by Kabogo (Tujibebe), Moses Kuria (Chama cha Kazi) and a host of UDA aspirants among them Wamatangi and Karungo Thangwa who were drumming up support for Deputy President William Ruto.

UDA presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua had pitched tents in Kiambu county, where he held a series of rallies under the umbrella "Mt Kenya express", when a standoff ensued.
