Agano Party Presidential aspirant David Waihiga has said has come out clean to condemn the Roots party presidential candidate George Luchiri Wajackoyah saying that Kenya does not need to invest in bhang to offset the ballooning public debt.

Mr Waihiga while attending a church service in Ruiru flanked by his newly unveiled running mate Faith Mutua, said all Kenyans need to do is tame runaway corruption.

Referring to Wajackoya’s running mate Mutua countered her counterpart that they will deliver a kind of presidency that will do away with corruption completely, make corruption a thing of the past, and we know it is possible because it has happened in other nations.

According to Mr Waihiga, Kenya is a rich country that can afford to offset its debts, particularly if stringent measures are put in place to tame corruption, as well as recover the money stashed abroad illegally.

In his argument, the Agano Party leader said fighting corruption and recovering money illegally stashed abroad would be enough to offset Kenya’s public debt within two years or less.

“If we stop some of the money we have been stealing, the president said it is 2 billion a day, and then we add the money that is stashed abroad illegally, you would find that it is possible to pay that debt within one or two years.” Mr Waihiga said.

He appeared to poke holes into fellow presidential aspirant Wajackoyah’s controversial proposition, that Kenya legalizes and sells cannabis to offset her choking debt.

According to the presidential hopeful, even in the countries where bhang has been made legal, the downsides outweigh the benefits.

During the church service, Mr Waihiga committed to peaceful campaigns and asked the congregants to pray for peace ahead of the General Election in August.
