Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has told off critics insinuating that he was detaching himself from Azimio One Kenya campaigns affirming that he is out to popularise the coalition's presidential flagbearer,

Speaking to Wiper politicians on Wednesday, May 4, the former vice president stated that he was fully out to drum up support for Mr Odinga, calling on the politicians to mobilize their supporters.

“We shall be drumming support for our presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga,” he stated.

He further stated that he was planning to use the rallies to popularize candidates who secured wiper tickets to contest various seats adding that his campaign will come to a head with a mega rally in Mombasa, on Saturday, May 7.

Kalonzo's sentiments follow barely days after he announced that he will not be participating in the coalition's vetting process claiming that the entire process was demeaning and since he should be an obvious choice for the position.

“I want to tell Kenyans that I will not attend the said process. I find the entire thing demeaning to my person and will therefore distance myself from it,” he stated.

His announcement attracted debate from different political parties, with some such as leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto coming to his defence claiming that he was facing continuous humiliation.

Similarly, his camp also threatened to detach from the coalition owing to the fact that the wiper leader was not granted a direct nomination as a deputy presidential candidate.
